問1：人一生的首要目的（chief end）是什麼？
答：（一）榮耀神；（二）以祂為樂，直到永遠。
略解： 所謂一件事物的「主要目的」，就是它被造的主要用途；例如窗子的主要用途是「透光」，而人的主要目的是「服事神」。如果他在地上能忠心持守這本分，將來就能與祂在天上一同歡樂。
